The 11th Isle of Wight Wedding Fayre

Sunday 4th March 2018

11 - 4pm

Ventnor Botanic Garden, Undercliff Drive, Ventnor, PO38 1UL

Weather update -

** Wedding Fayre going ahead **
>>> Please tag anyone who needs to know

We've driven from Chale through Niton and Whitwell to Ventnor to check conditions and arrived at the garden with only slushy ice on roads and paths.

Hot drinks, Hot Soup, Sandwiches and cake will be ready to greet you at The Plantation Cafe and the heating will be on! A break from snow cabin fever?!

PLEASE NOTE: this is not an endorsement that it is safe to leave wherever you live and wherever your car/vehicle is parked. Please make your own safety judgements tomorrow before you leave the house and only attend if safe to do so. We will be here though ready to greet you.

Most main roads seem to be clearer and by tomorrow the temperature will warm up (a little) and with rain forecast (can't stop that but it does mean it's warmer) we will be going ahead with a much more thawed out Island.

The whole Ventnor Botanic Garden car park is de-frosted and ready for visitors.

In November we celebrated the 10th wedding fayre at Ventnor Botanic Garden and it was amazing. Over 150 couples joined us with friends and fmaily to pan their weddings on the Isle of Wight. Over 10 successful wedding fayres we have welcomed over 1225 couples and we're proud to have helped so many people meet the suppliers of their wedding dreams.

Each event we want to recognise the efforts the Island’s wedding suppliers put into creating eye-catching displays while offering their expertise and helpful guidance, so couples are being asked to help choose a winner of the award for ‘Best Wedding Stand’ at next years fayre on Sunday 4th March 2018. Those who attend and cast their vote will be entered into a draw to win £50 of Marks and Spencer vouchers which can go towards wedding plans or just a nice treat!

The winner in November was Aaron Isted Illusionist with a whopping 21 votes! His magic and tricks went down a storm and was voted the winner of the November 2017 trophy. It's a great chance for you to tell us who made the best impressions on you.

Not been to a wedding fayre before or didn;t get as much out fo the last event? Wight Wedding Days advice is that check the list of suppliers before the event and see if there is someone specific you want to meet and talk to. Don't have to make a beeline for them but don't leave before you've seen them. Ask the volunteers on the entrance for any help you might need.

Who should you book? Well before that, you should try your best to meet your supplier before booking them **ahem** perhaps at the wedding fayre. If you can, speak to them on the phone, Skype or meet them in person before booking. See them so you can touch or experience the product before you spend your hard earned money, so you can then feel sure you want them to be a part of making your wedding day happen. Knowing who is behind your day coming together will give you more peace of mind than you think and is important to keep stress levels down. Wedding Fayres are the ideal place to see lots of them in one day.

This event has always been free to enter and all wedding planning couples, their family, friends and children are invited to attend from 11am – 4pm with plenty of car parking available on site at the venue – Ventnor Botanic Garden, Undercliff Road, Ventnor, PO38 1UL.

Garden entry isn't free. To enter the garden and enjoy the all-year-round efforts of the gardening team at the venue PLEASE pay a donation which is suggested as £5 per person (normally £9.50 per adult with gift aid donation). Payable as you arrive, in the cafe, shop or edulis restaurant. Even in March and November there is plenty of interesting things to see and do in the garden but not without the funds to support this.

There are plenty of reasons to stay a little longer too. You can choose to make a day of it and have lunch or drinks in The Plantation Room café and let the children explore the gardens, tropical house inclusive of educational eco wall and coouring wall, heritage centre, take the tunnel tour or the mushroom experience and take in the flowers, greenery and sounds of the garden.

ACCESS to the venue - Please note - one of the lifts is out of action at the moment which means that disabled and easier access for those less able and with buggies is via the sloped outdoor path to the ground floor where you can use a lift to get to the middle floor or driven to the pond area by car. Ask for support from the staff and wedding fayre team. All areas of the event are accessible but via a different route.
