Wight Wedding Themes

Somewhere over the Rainbow

One of the newest trends in weddings is the theme of Rainbows! White weddings are becoming increasing overshadowed by couples tying the knot surrounded by colours that would have even Dorothy reaching for sunglasses – and we LOVE it.

We understand that the grooms among you might instantly by turned off by the idea of walking up the aisle in garish and not-so-masculine colours, but the best thing about this theme is that you can work it any way you like; using subtle ‘suggestions’ or pastel variants in unusual and understated ways, or alternatively, whacking up the dial and going for a full on psychedelic wedding day experience.

Start off with a blank and simple base colour, for instance – white, then consider where throughout your day you think it would be appropriate to add splashes of colour – you don’t have to go overboard.

Rainbow cakes are a perfect example of this, a white frosting concealing a spectrum of brightly coloured sponge is just as surprising as presenting a cake covered in day glow icing, but far more delightful and sophisticated.

There is so much room to play around with this theme and one of the best things is that with such a broad palette, you won’t have to worry about finding wedding décor in obscure colours to match a duo tone colour scheme.

Another advantage of having a not so white Wight Wedding Day, is that if you’ve picked yourself an army of bridesmaids or groomsmen, you can work together to ensure they are dressed in a colour that suits them best while complimenting your theme perfectly.

It's worth discussing your rainbow theme and the feel you're trying to create with your photographer, in detail. They will be able to art direct the wedding shoot in a way that best captures the atmophere of the day and brings the colours out in the most appropriate way.

So if you’re having trouble picking a colour for your scheme, perhaps the answer is ‘have them all’!
