Wight Vintage supplier feature

A truly british way to entertain

Welcome to another supplier feature. This is our opportunity to show you that there is always a little more to Isle of Wight suppliers and that there are some interesting things you may not know about them.

Today’s supplier is Wight Vintage and when we heard about the bespoke crockery hire and styling service they offer, along with delicious tea party catering, we couldn’t help but be excited about what they could offer for a wedding or hen party. So we whipped them up into the directory to make sure you don’t miss out on their vintage crockery and tableware, the tasty cakes they make or the way they can display them (we would be keen not to miss the tasting).

For a long time the afternoon tea has been a traditional and sophisticated way of fulfilling that afternoon craving, whether you visit a tea room, a historic venue or perhaps in the relaxed setting of your own home.  If we are honest here at Wight Wedding Days, a homemade scone, jam and clotted cream aren’t restricted to being eaten in the afternoon!

Wight Vintage (as the name suggests) stock vintage crockery and tableware sourced in it’s original design or made into one off bespoke pieces, all of which is available for hire. That is if you plan on doing your own. Alternatively, they can bring the complete afternoon tea and party catering to you, displayed on their vintage crockery and tableware in the theme or colour choice of your wedding or hen party. What’s better is, if there is a colour theme or style you are going for that isn’t already in stock then it isn’t a problem, it can be made.

Depending on the time of day you intend on getting married and feeding your guests, you may find that an afternoon tea reception would suit you down to the ground. Finger sandwiches, cakes, scones, tea and coffee and not forgetting the bubbly, would go down a treat at many weddings or even hen parties.

It doesn’t stop at catering though as they can also offer a full event planning or an ‘Event Angel’ service. If you are looking for support and planning help throughout  (or to get through) the whole experience then the full package may be for you, someone to bounce ideas off of and 2 great ladies who are aware of suppliers who could fit your needs. You may be looking to do a lot of the leg work yourselves with the chance to have someone take on all last minute and on the day stresses to ensure the day runs smoothly, then Wight Vintage could be your ‘Event Angel’. On hand to ensure that everything you have envisaged comes together on the day or in the days leading up to your Wight Wedding Day.

As if that isn’t enough, they also have a farm venue available in Niton for an outdoor marquee wedding. It has views to a pond and plentiful parking. A great blank canvas perhaps to work with Wight Vintage to put your own touch to?

Now we can’t do all the talking (although we are willing) so here is a little more from Wight Vintage.

When did Wight Vintage start and why?

We have both dreamed of starting our own business and had often thought of opening a tearoom. We were both looking for opportunities to use our skills that we had gained so by the end of 2011 Wight Vintage was born to make the most of our event planning, catering and retail experience.

Why the Isle of Wight?

We are both born and bred here and love the Isle of Wight. We have both looked into living abroad before but our hearts are here so it is the ideal place to grow our vintage business and create lovely experiences in this fantastic place for others.

How has your business grown?

It was originally going to be just event and wedding planning but our love of china and cakes soon took over and our cake stands led the way. Our traditional catering services have now become very popular and we are expanding that side of the business. We cook as much as possible from scratch and use local produce where possible.

Who are the team?

Tracey Hamilton & Claire Critchison - we are Auntie and niece, but more like sisters! (see the two of them at an event above, looking lovely in matching dresses)

Do you offer anything that a client might not know about?

We offer more than just tea and cakes with our catering service, we can also do traditional homemade dishes including hotpots, crumbles with custard or mince pies and mulled wine for festive celebrations. Claire being vegetarian means we always offer meat free options and happy to cater for any special diet requirements.

What is the future for Wight Vintage?

We are about to open a show room at our farm in Niton so people can come and see our china all set up and will help show off our extensive items we have for hire. Eventually we will have a farm shop with our local produce and handmade up cycled items.

What differentiates you from other Caterers and event planners?

We specialise in developing, planning and coordinating your event into something to really stand out. We take your ideas whatever they are and turn them into a reality. Nothing is impossible so whatever it is your heart desires or wherever your imagination leads you we can help make it happen.

Our on the day or event angel service means you can stay in control of the planning but we can take over on the day so you can enjoy yourself without the worry.

All this talk of vintage crockery and I’m sure you are starting to think that you might like to own a piece for yourself or that it would be a great gift for someone you know. It would, in our opinion, make a great gift for a mother of the bride, bridesmaid or even for someone who has helped you out a hell of a lot and a lot through hell. If you buy it for someone then there is always the chance they will bake cakes, make sandwiches and invite you round to tea. If you would like to buy a gift box then Wight Vintage can provide beautiful gifts of cake stands, teacups and china with other added extras such as speciality teabags, chocolates, sweets or biscuits (an essential extra with any cup of tea or coffee).

A tempting treat we think you will agree. If you would like more information from Wight Vintage then you can contact them directly through their listing on Wight Wedding Days or by one of the contacts below.

Be sure to let them know you heard about them or read more on them at Wight Wedding Days X
