Wight Photobooths

Supplier feature

Having a wedding photographer has become an automatic addition to the wedding budget and list of decisions to make while planning. Here on the Isle of Wight there are photographers that offer portrait corners and opportunities to dress up and have fun for some more relaxed and unique images. A great idea that helps people get talking to other guests they might not know, and settle into the 4th Pimms they’ve conveniently found their hands on. It becomes quite entertaining and something to be remembered about the best wedding they ever went to on the Isle of Wight, aside from perhaps their own of course.

A well-established photographer on the Isle of Wight, Robert Longford, has teamed up with Carl Davies to bring a new wedding photography entertainment service to your wedding here. A photobooth – yes, we know you’ve seen one before at the post office when you got your passport pictures done, but this is different. You’ll not have to worry about keeping a straight face and being as close to the ‘real’ you as possible, because that’s half the fun. And it is nowhere near as dowdy looking as the one in the supermarket; this one is a pleasure to get into with other wedding guests. It’s a chance to show you the fun they’re having and to get relaxed ‘in the moment’ pictures that aren’t ones being organised by the wedding photographer. Although effectively you are collecting together a completely different kind of wedding photo album with the snapshots of your friends and family in the booth, it’s actually going to entertain them, make them laugh (at each other probably) and come away with another memento – their pictures. You may even find yourself framing some of those pictures too. It’s wedding entertainment in disguise.

As a new product to the Isle of Wight, which has been booked by past wedding couples through mainland companies, it is great to now have an Island based option with a saving because there’s no need for additional transport costs. We asked Carl a few questions about how Wight Photobooths started and what the future plans are for the service they offer.

Wight Photobooths is a new innovative idea for the Isle of Wight, when did you develop and launch the idea and why?

We saw the idea at a wedding early last year and wanted to bring the sense of fun and hilarity that we saw then, to the Island.  We spent most of the summer working out the ideas, building various test booths until we were sure we had it 100% right and then ensuring the quality of the output was second to none.  Studio quality from a photobooth is what we achieved.

Why did you decide to base Wight Photobooths on the Isle of Wight and what are the benefits?

Already living on the island, we wanted something local for all islanders.  Mainland companies provided the service but with hefty transport and ferry costs added on.

How has Wight Photobooths grown since you started?

We have only been trading since December but have had a couple of successful events already and bookings are coming in thick and fast now that people know the service is available on the island. Wedding bookings are proving popular!

Who are the team behind Wight Photobooths?

Robert Longford from Robert Longford Photography and Carl Davies – we have known each other for 5 years and wanted to work together on something fun. As Robert specialises in Wedding Photography anyway, this seemed a natural progression.

Can you describe the full service offered by Wight Photobooths for wedding couples?

Having one of our WIGHT Photobooths at your wedding or event is a must. Unique, hilarious and priceless images of the guests that would not be captured any other way.  It’s also perfect as an alternative to wedding favours as guests can leave with a copy of their image as a keepsake – as well as a fun memory! We set up a photobooth and man it for the duration of the rental, couples and guests therefore receive great customer service with a genuine personal touch.  Guests enter with or without fancy dress hats, glasses etc and strike 4 poses and by the time they come out, a print is ready to take away. Wedding couples can choose to have 1 set go with each guest or an additional print placed in a wedding album with guests’ comments to laugh about after their day is over.

Do you offer anything that a wedding client might not know about and may be of interest?

Indeed! Our photobooths can be personalised – either with props or the entire booth can be changed to match a colour scheme or theme. In addition, we know exactly how to make our client’s WIGHT Photobooth experience a total success. In addition to instant prints from the booths, we can offer custom designed memory albums or framed enlargements so the client and their fellow WIGHT Photobooth guests can relive the fun!

What is the future for Wight Photobooths, any new developments?

As well as weddings, we also cover birthday parties, proms, events and corporate parties too.  As the booths can be personalised, the list is endless as to what it can be used for.  Dare we say, start planning those office Christmas parties?!

What do you think differentiates you from other wedding entertainment and photography options?

There are no other photobooth suppliers on the island and therefore by using a local island company, we aim to keep the costs low for our clients. Having a photobooth at a wedding is great fun and guests always compliment on the fun and frivolity they have had.  As we mentioned, the quality of the images produced are second to none and much better than the images you used to get out of a photobooth in Woolworths!

Well now I’ve heard about the full service offered by Carl and Robert it’s hard not to imagine every wedding with a photobooth installed. Being able to personalise the booth is great so you can all make sure it fits in with your theme, and you can even make a joke out of it by making your guests step into something funny or relevant to how they know you e.g. ask to dress it up as a time machine or sci-fi booth. Being able to offer studio quality photos to your guests as their wedding favour has a great personal touch and will be a gift they will surely have on their wall or fridge for years to come as a reminder.

If you would like more information on a photobooth at your wedding then take a look at the Wight Photobooths profile page in the Wight Wedding Days Directory and get in touch with Robert or Carl using the enquiry button.
