Silk Wedding Photography – supplier feature

Designed to bring you quality images

Todays supplier feature is one of our wonderful photographers Lucie Eleanor of Silk Wedding Photography, who is particularly special to us as we discovered her stunning talent when we all met at university. If you’re after a versatile and discrete photographer for your wedding day, Silk Wedding Photography might be the perfect supplier for you.

Like all of our beautiful photographers, Silk’s portfolio of breathtaking wedding shots speaks for itself, so any further comment may be deemed superfluous (As an amazing supporter of Wight Wedding Days, you may well have seen some of her shots in our blog posts, thank you again Lucie). Unfortunately for you all, I ruddy love banging on about my favourite things, so I’m going to add a little bit more about why I think Silk is a fabulous Wight Wedding Day supplier.

Lucie’s photography has been showcased in other fashion magazines such as Elle and The Times, her background in fashion and raw passion for photographing models comes through in all of her wedding shots. With an eye for colour and spotting candid opportunities as well as directed shots, Silk would provide a vast array of memories from your big day. Another bonus is Lucie’s ability to make the greyest of days look atmospheric and stunning.

This talented and discrete photographer would be perfect for capturing those intimate ‘preparation’ shots on the morning of the wedding – Lucie’s ability to catch the most detailed of images is evidenced in her online portfolio. An experienced art director, Lucie is the kind of photographer who knows what will make a great shot and have you looking your best, at the same time making you feel completely at ease – but her talents don’t stop there!

Anyone who is familiar with the photography production process will be aware that taking the photos is only half of the job. Post production treatments can make or break your photos – we’ve all seen examples of clipart style wedding image effects, what a treat....not! Just a quick look at Silk’s portfolio and it’s clear to see how each wedding is interpreted perfectly through the artistic and charming finished products. Silk Wedding photography– we salute you!

We asked Lucie to tell us more about Silk and why she loves the Island as much as we do!

When did Silk Wedding Photography start and why?

I started Silk Wedding Photography a few years back. I had shot a couple of weddings and been an assistant to a wedding photographer before I started working as a fashion photographer. I did it because I wanted to expand my business and try some different things.

Why the Isle of Wight?

I grew up on the Isle of Wight and since my family were still here I wanted the chance to be able to see them more. I also found that in London a lot of weddings are held in hotels - I really wanted the chance to shoot weddings outdoors and in the beautiful churches that we have here, I felt I could get my best shots this way.

How has your business grown?

It has been steadily growing in the past few years. It is tricky finding the best ways to advertise yourself, but I think it is getting there and over the next few years I want to really concentrate on making it very successful.

What are the main services you offer?

I offer several packages depending on the amount of time and images a couple wants so I can cater to all types of weddings. I like to be a hands off photographer for the majority of the wedding - I have learned a lot over the last few years about what people want on their wedding day and I think the reportage style I offer is something that has become very popular in modern weddings.

Do you offer anything that a client might not know about?

I also offer engagement photo shoots, it is a nice romantic photo shoot with just the couple in a location of their choice, which is quite popular with my clients.

What is the future for Silk Wedding Photography?

I hope over the next few years for it to really take off. I really enjoy the freedom being a wedding photographer gives you, you get to meet a lot of great people and travel around to different places so this is definitely something I want to continue.

What differentiates you from other photographers?

I use my fashion experience and incorporate it into my images, I think this gives me an edge when it comes to lighting, composition and my style of retouching.

How would you describe the perfect wedding couple to work with?

So far all of my couples have been great, I have had no problems. Some are more laid back about the shots they want, others have specific ideas, but I am happy with either approach.

How would you describe your photography style?

I really enjoy eye catching colours and I have been told my photography has a soft earthy feel to it, so I think that is how I would be describe it.

If some of the images in this blog post haven’t been enough to convince you of how unique your wedding photos will be with the combination of Lucie’s reportage style, combined with her fashion photography experience and post production skills, then there is more to see. Head over to Lucie’s fashion website here and you will see examples of how she fills the time outside of wedding photography, you will be impressed..we promise.
