More than just a holiday park

One of the first decisions you will make on your wedding planning adventure is where and when you will get married. Now, being ones to shout from the rooftops about the number and variety of venues available on the Isle of Wight, we think there is something for everyone and your budget. We have heritage and listed buildings, hotels, attractions and marquees with views to the sea, countryside or both. There is a selection we are working to bring to you in your directory. A venue on the Island that offers quite a few services in house with a full team on hand to help you along the way is Rookley Country Park you will find in….well, it’s in Rookley but if you aren’t from the Island then you might not know that.

          

Rookley Country Park in it’s entirety is a holiday park with a number of on-site facilities that would make it the ideal venue for both Island couples and those coming from the north island (testing out using something different from calling it ‘the mainland’). Being a holiday park in the first instance means there are many facilities available to you and your guests. What they offer over all confirms their slogan that they are ‘More than just a holiday park’. There is plenty at your disposal; accommodation in abundance, on-site catering, bars, full in-house staffing, areas to entertain the kids and kids in us adults, views to gaze over with a drink in hand and photo opportunities in abundance.

   

Don’t be fooled into thinking that their expertise lay mainly in running holiday accommodation, as Rookley have been growing the number of weddings they hold over the last few years and have developed a strong in-house team and built their experience too. You will be getting a professional and attentive service throughout your experience with Rookley with flexibility in what you are able to have.

When did weddings at Rookley Country Park start and why?

Our first ever wedding reception at Rookley Country Park was many years ago for a previous colleague who worked for us, but we had not even contemplated being a wedding reception venue at that time. We decided to hold a limited number of weddings from 2008 due to inflation of enquiries, however since launching our wedding services we have gone crazy with the amount of bookings we take each year, resulting in an ever growing events service.

 

Why the Isle of Wight and Rookley as a wedding destination?

Rookley Country Park is at the very heart of the Isle of Wight, we are easy to get to no matter how you and your guests decide to travel. The Isle of Wight is such a beautiful Island and what more could you want than rolling countryside in your wedding photo’s. We host stunning settings within the grounds of the park, with picturesque lakes for those memorable photographs. We are very family friendly and have many things to take advantage of for your big day such as accommodation, children’s play areas etc.

How has your business grown?

Since starting wedding receptions in 2008, we have grown from strength to strength offering interesting and eye catching packages for all budgets. This year we are proud to announce we have been granted our Wedding Civil ceremony licence, allowing couples to do the whole day with us. We have built up amazing relationships with other wedding industry companies throughout the years, which we gladly recommend to help our bride and grooms have the day they dreamed of.

 

Who are the team?

Clare Pocock is the Events Co-ordinator; she is the face of functions at Rookley Country Park and has been with us since the start of the wedding services venture, although previously she worked our bars, kitchen and restaurant before taking on the role of events co-ordinator, helping to establish the perfect wedding service. She is the main person who will deal with the planning of your wedding, she will co-ordinate your wedding day and will continue with your after care, ensuring you receive all items from the wedding etc. Being a holiday park, we have a large team of employees who all play a part in the wedding service we offer, from housekeeping who launder and iron the table cloths to the sales team who will take care of any accommodation queries and bookings. Not forgetting our brilliant kitchen and front of house team who create a relaxed and superb food service.

  

What are the main wedding services you offer?

We can offer the full package, starting from a civil wedding ceremony, reception wedding breakfast and evening party with a late night licence of 1am!! All catering is created by us, we offer many delicious buffet options as well as up to 6 course meals. We have our packages available however we offer a flexible service and welcome any ideas the bride and groom have, creating that personalised touch to each individual wedding. New to our 2013 package we are offering a sweetie buffet service and bespoke meringue or profiterole towers with personalised sugar craft names as well as our ever popular chair cover service and, top table swag hire.

 

Do you offer anything that a client might not know about?

Our maintenance manager is trained in pyrotechnics, so we can offer firework displays to the bride and groom for a very good price. These prices are quoted upon application of this service. Our goal is to be very flexible with each and every bride and groom, ensuring we do our very best to meet their requests and requirements. We will endeavour to fulfil any ideas they share with us, to create the dream day they are planning.

What is the future for Rookley Country Park?

Each year we learn more and more as to what people want on their wedding day so our services are growing all the time. We continue to extend our packages and offer more at reasonable prices. We are trying to ensure the stress of planning a wedding is taken away from the bride and groom, as we help as much as we possibly can with most aspects of the planning and the day itself. There are many exciting and new developments for Rookley Country Park for next year which we can not mention yet, so watch this space!

   

What differentiates you from other wedding venues?

We offer a personal, experienced and knowledgeable wedding planning service guiding each bride and groom through the planning of their wedding, this service is for free and we are happy to help as much or as little as each individual client requires. Throughout the whole planning each couple will only discuss their needs with Clare, this helps give the bride and groom the confidence that they are not repeating information and that they only have the one person to communicate with. Rookley Country Park is lucky enough to be able to offer our in-house entertainments team to create a fun disco for your evening party and this service is included in the room hire price saving them over £200.00.

 

From what we have seen on Rookley Country Parks FB page, Twitter profile, website and preparations for this Autumns bridal event, they are all about developing their services to fit the needs of couples wanting to get married there.
