Creative and Stylish wedding photography

Choosing your wedding day photographer will be one of the most important decisions of your wedding planning experience and we think that is for obvious reasons, but in case you aren't with us on that one here are a few reasons why.

First off - you are going to spend a lot of time, money and emotional turmoil planning your wedding day with it all coming together seamlessly on the day, of course. It would be a shame not to have a beautiful record of all your efforts so you can show the grandchildren, family members and friends. You may find they come in handy you show your children when they come to get married themselves

Second – the both of you, your family and guests are going to look gorgeous. You may never have seen so many of them scrubbed up in one place before and it may not happen anytime soon either. Best to have a photographer there to capture the faces of the people you love enjoying themselves. Who doesn’t want professional pictures of themselves? For some it is the only chance they will have.

Thirdly – You have organised a tight schedule with so much crammed into one day to celebrate getting married and to entertain yourselves and your guests. It’s going to pass quickly so your photographer is an essential guest at your day because they will capture some moments you just need eyes in the back of your head to see. Lots of people describe their day as a bit of blur because…it really does feel like that, with emotions high, adrenalin present (you both said ‘I do’), dinner to eat and dancing to test your shoes with.

Our featured supplier today is a fine arts photographer who specialises in landscapes and action/lifestyle photography. Jason Swain is an Isle of Wight based photographer with a genuine love for the coastline and landscape of this beautiful place, which makes us like him even more. A love for surfing has a little to do with his amazing photography of the coastline and describes the following as motivation ‘It’s the meeting of land and sea along that coast, and the activity that flourishes in the small places between them, that provides my daily inspiration.’ What’s not to love about that?

Jason is a very experienced photographer who can bring elements of his other areas of photography to your wedding day. A quick look through the many slideshows on his website give a great insight into the type of photography you will be looking at post-wedding and will also be a very pleasant way of spending your lunch break. We asked Jason for a little insight into his passion for photography and how his business has developed.

When did Jason Swain photography start and why?

I started taking pictures around 40 years ago, but have only been working as a professional photographer for the last 5  years or so.

Why, because it’s who I am. It’s not a business choice, it’s a calling. I see things every hour of every day that make me stop and take photos, I see the world in terms of light and composition, and after years of hard work I’m now supporting my family by working at the thing I love.

Why the Isle of Wight?

It was the coast that first drew me in and it’s the coast that keeps me here. With my lifelong love of photography and landscape painting combined with being a dedicated surfer, there’s not a day goes by that I don’t count my blessings in being lucky enough to live somewhere where I am able to indulge my passions.

How has your wedding side of the business grown?

Slowly and organically, I’m not pushing hard, I don’t want to be working weddings every week, I like to still feel excited and fresh every time I turn up to shoot. Growth has come through word of mouth referrals and through people that have seen my work online and via exhibitions, I don’t do traditional advertising or trade shows.

Who are the team?

Me, with a good selection of photographer friends to call upon as assistants and second shooters if the occasion demands it.

What are the main wedding services you offer?

Photography. I also photograph commercially and for events so something that may be of interest to couples is a printed image of the Island landscape or events as they would make good presents.

What is the future for Jason Swain photography?

More of the same please, I’m enjoying doing what I love and people are loving the results, I can’t ask for more than that.

What differentiates you from other wedding photographers?

I could try saying its my laid back style and informal approach, but there are others out there shooting in similar ways, so I generally just try to let my pictures do the talking for me.

We definitely advise a trip over to Jason Swain's website to take a look through the many images available to look through. We advise a little time to get stuck in as there are plentiful numbers of amazing images that will make you fall in love with the Island, if you aren't already of course.

If that isn’t enough, here is the link to the background in the photographers own words featured on Jason’s website. A laid back photographer who could bring a calming atmosphere when capturing the action of your wedding day.
