Isle of Wight Wedding Photographer

Wight Wedding Photography

Supplier feature

There are lots of Isle of Wight wedding photographers to choose from, to the point where you will be looking at the Wight Wedding Days photography category (naturally), websites, Facebook pages and Twitter accounts swimming in words such as ‘capture the story’, ‘formal shots’, ‘reportage’ and ‘relaxed formal’ wondering which is right for you and sometimes what they are going on about. If you are new to looking at photography and what you should be looking for, worry not because most people are the same. Don’t be afraid to ask them what things mean, in layman’s terms.

Your wedding photographer is one of the early decisions you should make as one person can only be in one place at a time, so once they’re booked they’re booked. If you aren’t quick to choose the wedding photographer you want then you might miss out. That said however, don’t make a rushed decision on wedding photos that will be your everlasting mementos of all your time, effort and money.

As a starting point you should both have a chat about what you want from your wedding photography and of how much value it is to you. The price of wedding photographers can vary quite a lot and for many different reasons; time spent photographing the wedding day, photo albums – printed and USB, engagement shoots, second photographers, assistant photographers, the experience and knowledge of the individual, quality of images and final prints to name but a few factors. Don’t be led solely on price, make sure you do your research and most importantly meet them and ask your questions. It may have become a cliché but it’s true, it is one of the main lasting parts of your day so make it count.

There is the right photographer for every couple and wedding budget whether you are looking for someone to just record certain parts of the day, how great everyone looked and how much fun was had, or if you are looking to capture every part of your wedding day in a style that reflects who you are, the images and art you like to buy and display, along with all the details of a day that emulates your personalities and relationship.

If you are the latter couple – then we will presume that wedding photography is more important to you than expecting your photographer to just systematically go through a to-shoot list. A more creative approach can make you and everything around you look amazing on your wedding day so you feel inclined to share the images with everyone, but also become art with you as the subjects. Not something you necessarily put on the ‘bucket list’ during art at school, but with a professional experienced photographer you won’t need to do anything much yourselves to achieve this.

An Isle of Wight wedding photographer who can offer a different approach to your wedding photography with a fine art result is Sam Scadgell of Wight Wedding photography. A new addition to the directory and already after one meeting we can tell that he plans to bring a style and final result a little different to others. A fine art approach that will have you and your wedding looking it’s best, with a permanent spot on your wall for all to see. We asked Sam a few more questions on his photography to get a better idea of what he can offer you.

Welcome to the Wight Wedding Days directory Sam, When did you start Wight Wedding Photography and why?

I decided to start Wight Wedding Photography only a few months ago, although I have been working as Xposure Photographic for nearly a year now, it was only recently that my partner came up with the name for my Wedding Photography business. I supposed the main reason for starting in this area was to challenge myself in a more social area of photography. I like to think I’m a people person…

Your business is based on the Isle of Wight but is there a particular reason for that and what are the benefits?

The Isle of Wight is my home. I love it here! It just so happens it’s also a great place to get married and has many fantastic locations for your wedding. It also offers a varied and beautiful array of interesting backdrops and seaside shoot locations.

Although you have been working as Xposure Photographic for a while now and have worked on some very interesting promotional and private projects, how has your photography business grown since you started?

Its not been easy by any means, I studied photography at Plymouth University and came back home to set up my business. I think just continuing to practise the art in a variety of forms from fine art Photography exhibitions at local interesting spaces like the West Bay Country Club and Dimbola Museum and Galleries, to going on portrait shoots and promotional shoots gives a varied and rounded view on photography.  The key has been to follow ideas through and see where they lead! With Wedding Photography I aim to give my clients more than they expect visually and through service and content.

Although you are the photographer behind Wight Wedding Photography, is there anyone else who supports you and your business?

I call on people to help at larger weddings and events but really it’s just me for now. I set up my business off my own back, my aim is to just refine and produce wedding images that people will remember and cherish forever.

We have spoken about how Wight Wedding Photography will be offering something very different for wedding couples looking to have very unique wedding photography for the future. Can you explain it in your own words?

Yes, I’m offering a contemporary reportage style of photography through the day. However alongside this I try to produce a number of more fine art style images during the day. These are images produced with absolute finesse and draw on my 10 years of experience with the camera. The aim is then to produce a beautiful fine art image of the couple that they can choose. These images are printed onto the finest quality Museo Papers.

The exciting extra for the future is to take newly married couples after their wedding day to a specific location where they have fond memories, maybe a particular beach, gardens or walk etc. And to have more images shot that become a special edition to their wedding day.

What are the main wedding services and products Wight Wedding photography can offer to wedding planning couples?

-       Online wedding portfolio for wedding guests.

-       Fine art prints, canvases.

What do you think differentiates you from other wedding photographers and is your unique selling point?

I think the answer is book and you’ll find out…

More seriously it’s the quality of what I offer and the way it is delivered.

Do you offer anything that a wedding client might not know about and may be of interest or help make the decision to enquire with you?

I think the style of photography coupled with the fine art options should be of interest to people. Also the main product I offer with every wedding is a photo book from the day, this is more contemporary than the traditional wedding album and will tell a great story from your wedding day. You also get a good range of extras from the packages on offer.

I also offer completely customisable bespoke wedding packages to suit your every need from the day.
