Special and Memorable,

Let Haven Falconry inspire your perfect day

Falconry on the Isle of Wight

Supplier feature

Choosing entertainment for your wedding day can be tough as there has been a trend in the direction of alternative options away from what has become the norm like fire breathing hula-hooping dancers or photo booths. Not both, that would definitely be a health hazard. It might seem to you like there is little in the way of something different on the Isle of Wight, but we beg to differ.

Pets are now a regular feature at a wedding as a ring bearer or as a guest to entertain the….guests. You can get some great photos and some quite comedic ones with fancy dress an option. People choose to have their dogs walk down the aisle with the rings tied to their collar. Quite a responsibility for a pet that can’t talk. The famous phrase coined by W.C. Fields that you should ‘never work with children or animals’ gives you some indication as to the possible risks of including, or more importantly, relying on an animal to ‘perform’ or just behave on your wedding day. You should know the character of your pet so could plan the best situations to include them. Animals are great talking points that offer the chance for people to introduce themselves to each other and make for a happy memory of the day.

Now the difference between a ‘pet’ and an animal being at your wedding day is the unique opportunity to interact with an animal from the wild. It offers a heightened excitement, as there is a certain risk associated with the situation. A business based on the Isle of Wight offering this type of opportunity, that you can rely upon to provide a trained and entertaining animal for your wedding day is Haven Falconry. Whether you are looking for a dove release as part of your ceremony or reception, an owl or hawk to deliver the wedding rings to you at the altar or a falconry display to entertain your guests with the chance to hold, pet and have a picture taken with the birds of prey, Haven Falconry can offer you all of these options.

Here at Wight Wedding Days we love the idea of providing an opportunity your guests may never have had before or will ever get again, to meet and get up close to birds of prey. The drama (in a good way, not Eastenders) and atmosphere created by an owl swooping over the heads of your guests with the rings will definitely get a few gasps and smiles.

Entertainment at weddings can offer a talking point for guests you have invited that don’t know each other - an icebreaker. The opportunity to hold, (well be stood on) touch and have your picture with one of the magnificent birds will definitely be spoken about amongst your guests for a while after the wedding is over. It could also keep them occupied whilst everyone is getting those important  ‘must-have’ photos over on the lawn.

Of course what is of the highest importance is that it is something you will both enjoy doing at your wedding, if you can tear yourself away from that guest chewing your ear off. Perhaps suggest watching the falconry display?

Haven Falconry has another service on offer for couples getting married on the Isle of Wight and that is a dove release. Seen as a symbolic expression of the day where two doves that have a lifetime bond are released to fly off to a future together. Another memorable addition to your day.
