When planning your wedding you need to decide if you are going to be inviting the whole family, kids included! For some of you wedding planning couples it is an easy decision but others may be pondering whether they will lose any friends if they choose to have a more adult affair and leave the kids off the invite. It’s your wedding day and most children will equal an extra seat so it is a serious point to consider as part of budgeting, as well as knowing what will make your friends and family happy on the day.

Having a wedding on the Isle of Wight often involves inviting family and friends from the mainland who will instinctively want to come across the water with everyone in tow. They decide to spend the money and come to the wedding, but want to make a holiday out of it. Fantastic, and why not! So if you are choosing to invite the kids because they were always going to be a part of making sure the Mums and Dads are happy, then have you considered how you might keep the children entertained? Oh yes, not content with just having them there you may well then need to consider keeping them amused so that everyone has a chance to be an adult and enjoy the day.

To be fair, you will have planned a pretty amazing day and as much as you love your friends kids and your young cousins or even your own kids, it’d be nice to have some adult conversation where one of their eyes isn’t following the children running around the table (a roaming eye is just a little off putting!). It would be money well spent to have at certain points in the day something or someone to capture the children’s attention.

We’d suggest always letting parents know if they need to bring food with them for the children. Nothing worse than getting to the day to find their children’s fussy/dietary requirements aren’t being catered for by the venue and they didn’t bring a soggy sandwich with them. Whilst the rest of the room are eating then they should be amused too.

A little present or activity bag is always a winner. Include sweets, games and a toy and that should keep them quiet for say…oh, well 12 minutes. The eyes of the adult guests will light up brighter at the prospect of being given the chance to have some adult conversation through dinner. Once dinner is over and they have been well behaved sitting quietly through the speeches, they do deserve a little reward in the way of entertainment. You can either expect them to dance along with everyone else or you can get someone else to take them of your hands. This could be in the form of a wedding crèche or a children’s entertainer…or both!

A specialist trained children’s entertainer is hard to come by and you always worry that an old timer will turn up in a well-worn clown outfit to disappoint the kids. But alas we live in modern times and the Isle of Wight has been the birthplace to a very exciting company by the name of Dazzle and Fizz Parties. You might have known them before as Bedazzled parties but a recent name change hasn’t affected the awesomeness of the children’s parties, entertainment and crèche services they offer.

We asked Charlotte a little more about Dazzle and Fizz Parties and what they can offer for your wedding on the Isle of Wight.

 

Although originally you named your business ‘Bedazzled Parties’ and your recent name change now sees you called ‘Dazzle and Fizz Parties’, when did you start and why?

 We formed the company in December 2010 on the Isle of Wight. After years of performing children’s parties in London, we moved back to the Island to start our family and were shocked to discover how little the children’s party industry here had moved on since my own childhood. We also had a new baby on the way, so, we needed to think of a way to support our newly expanding family!

Why did you decide to base your business on the Isle of Wight and what are the benefits?

 For us, the Isle of Wight has proved to be the perfect place to start our business. Firstly, we were blessed with a strong support network, which was essential with a new baby and business. Even more so, we have found our Island customers to be some of the kindest, most supportive and loyal in the UK. We rely heavily on our reputation here and we are always very humbled to see people recommending us regularly. I was born on the Isle of Wight, so I feel that I understand the clientele here. Islanders want a high quality service, delivered in a personable manner. Every one of our Isle of Wight children’s party entertainers is home grown talent and we are proud to support creative young people here.  I love the Island, it will always be my home and I want to ensure that our business continues to thrive here.

Who are the team behind Dazzle and Fizz kids parties?

 Dazzle and Fizz Parties is run by husband and wife team Charlotte and Daniel Brisco (with a little help from Baby Brisco too!) We currently hire 14 children’s party entertainers across the 7 counties, 4 of whom live on the Isle of Wight. We also work with many freelance professionals including face painters, cake makers, artists, candy providers and magicians.

How has Dazzle and Fizz kids parties grown since you started?

 When we started the business, it was only ever intended to be a part-time venture. We had £50.00 investment and used this to scrape together a slightly dubious costume and some magic tricks. Two years on and we now deliver up to 100 parties per month, across London, Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight. All of our costumes are of the highest quality and our entertainers receive thorough and detailed training. Our repertoire has also increased dramatically. We now offer Makaton signed sensory parties for children with special needs, Baby Signing Parties for under 3’s and a whole host of unique party solutions for older children and young adults. Our party planning service means that whatever your budget and requirements, we can deliver a tailor made package to suit you.

What are the main wedding services you offer couples?

 We offer a three tier wedding service for couples. The first level of service is children’s entertainment. Here you can hire one of our dedicated team to entertain the children for 1 or 2 hours, allowing your guests to enjoy the speeches/ the wedding breakfast at their leisure. Secondly, if you have invited a large number of children and babies under 3 years of age, you may benefit from our wedding crèche service. Our wedding crèche is unique in that all of our childcare professionals are also members of our in-house entertainments team. This means that they will arrive in full character and costume on the day and be experts in engaging the tiniest of friends throughout the session. All crèche staff will also be trained in the Baby Signing Mummy method, meaning that they can communicate effectively with pre-talkers. The crèche will consist of bubbles, toys, soft play, books, puppets, music, singing, games, storytelling, parachute and balloons, all delivered with maximum amounts of Dazzle and Fizz fun! The third level of service is for a bespoke childcare package which can last throughout the entire event, or over a weekend. Here we would work with you to devise your perfect entertainment and childcare programme that would ensure every young guest has the best possible time at your wedding.

Do you offer anything that a client might not know about and may be of interest?

 What makes us special is that unlike many of our competitors, we are not an agency. All of our entertainers are trained in-house at Dazzle and Fizz HQ and this means that we have complete control and creativity over our end product. To this end, no project is too big or small and our in-house creative team love working on original concepts. We can write scripts to suit pretty much any theme and tailor the entertainment to be entirely personal to your wedding day. Our entertainment is also entirely accessible and we have staff trained in Makaton and Special Needs to ensure that all children can make the most of our work.

What is the future for Dazzle and Fizz kids parties, any new developments in the pipeline?

 Yes, lots! We will be making a big announcement in the next 8 weeks. Think expansion and watch this space….

What differentiates you from other bespoke party planners and wedding entertainment providers?

 Our business is quality children’s entertainment. We know exactly what modern children want and know how to deliver it. We are experts in entertainment packages for children, so if you are planning on having children at your wedding, we are the people to call. Many wedding planners may offer children’s packages, but chances are they will be outsourcing to companies like us, so it is always better to go direct.

 

We’re only a little bit jealous of the chance to dress up in costumes and become characters that will make children cry with laughter. What an amazing job.
